Okay, so you have probably had a lot of Phishing emails, most of these get automatically put into your junk folder, but some don't this guide will help you tell if it is a phishing email!
Step 1: What do Phishing email look like in my inbox?
It is almost impossible to find a Phishing email by just looking at them in your inbox, but one way you can tell is by the number of times you are sent the message. Phishing email will usually keep getting sent to you with the exact same email every time this is the first sign of a Phishing email!
Step 2: The badass sender!
This is most likely the 2nd easiest way to spot a Phishing Email, the sender and receiver info. The sender will usually have a number typo or a spelling typo. If it does, THE EMAIL IS FAKE. Jagex's real emails are: billingsupport@jage*****m parents@jage*****m referafriend@email.runescape.com news@email.runescape.com loyalty@email.runescape.com ect...
Step 3: The outdated background
When you get phishing emails, sometimes you will see a very old message background the message I am working on has the background when mobalising armies was just released, Jagex no longer uses this!
Step 4: Stepping Inside the Email!
This is the step that will really give away weather you email is fake or not, you should not ignore the above steps, but take them into consideration also. Phishing emails always have a link in them or else it wouldn't be a phishing email! These link will most likely take you to a fake login page, forums link, if it is a forums link, it will tell you to login before posting, this will redirect you to the phishing logon page! Now for finding the fakeness!
What you need to do is find the link somewhere in the email, it will look like a legit website link at first, this will soon change. Hover your mouse over the link, in the bottom left/right of your screen you will see a link show up, this is where you will see all the perpose typos and the fake link. Look at this picture for some examples!
Step 5: The last step!
At the bottom of the email, you will see a policy, Even phishing emails will have one. Not all have a fake one, but most do. Phishing emails usually make them hard to read slightly different. Here are some examples!
Real Policy:
