Yeah, that's what Dave said. I didn't know that's the purpose of those boards.

I dropped down all the way to the LK version which is $150 normally but I can get it for $100, so I dropped my total to $540, not bad.

AMD FX-8150 vs Intel Core i7-3770K (Click the performance tab), looks like it gets blown away to 3770K, looks like the motherboard makes a big difference. God dammit, why does this shit gotta be so complicated.

I think Im 99% sure going with 3770K cuz I upgrade about every 3-4 years, so better get a little future proof.
nice choice, intel uses less power than amd, thats why I prefer it.
My ivy bridge 3550 is sitting right next to me, didn't get the chance to install it, motherboard didn't arrive yet, but I'm gonna post my opinions when it's done.

Well, I ordered my parts, but unless they somehow deliver it on July 3rd (2 day shipping), which I doubt they will, it will arrive on the 5th+.

    Are you planning on OCing?
With a decent cooler you should be able to hit 4.4GHz easily without overheating.
The i7 3770k has thermal issues with their thermal paste within the chip.

    Just translate that to English.
If you got low profile RAM then you should go something like a Noctua NH-D14.

Never understood those RAM with giant heatsinks. RAM barely gets hot.

I too have had bad experiences with AMD. Although this was a while ago, my Intel processors have never fucked up on me. I'd go with the 3770k.
