What kind of stuff do you intend to do? You've got tablets in the sense of phone-ish tablets (iOS / Android etc.) and slightly more business/office tablets (Windows/proper Linux distro)

In all honesty if you're looking for the latter I would recommend you look at Asus' Prime tablets. Awesome fun.

Wait till Windows 8 / Windows RT comes out. Then fetch a proper Windows 8 tablet (the Surface will have a Windows 8 version, make sure you don't get the RT one). Worst case scenario wait a month after Windows 8 comes out for Windows 8 tablets to hit the market.
