Theory: Reversing the Gun Adder Hack

So, I was taking a dump like 5 minutes ago when this idea came up in my head.

You can reverse the process of buying a gun by selling an item (like a pistol, which can be stacked because it's expendable) and changing the item code to the code of the item you bought using the hack.

Would this work? Redspot, please reply.
