Yeh no. Not even close. Macs may be unix-based but they're just can be just as bloated as any other machine. Its good for a few things, social media, and video/audio production. Contrary to popular belief it's shit for editing (except for professional video/audio production, shit like FCPX, AVID products like AVID ISIS5000, and other hardcore shit, and even then the machines have been bastardised so much that the only thing resembling a Mac is the physical exterior and the OS) compared to other UNIX based operating systems and even Windows has the upper hand, but that isn't entirely due to the OS. It's just about as good for gaming as long as the game supports the OS. The caveat is the cost of hardware, the poor upgradeability and the enclosed secret garden support.

In terms of value, Mac loses. In terms of technical specification it loses (and yes even though Thunderbolt is amazing unfortunately that was created by Intel whose primary market is the PC and was forced to give Mac a head start with the product due to contracting specifics). But at the OS level it's just aimed at different people and definitely not at teenage gamers. That's just demographics.
