NEED YOUR HELP! SOTW Information Format

I need your guys help. Please submit information you think should be added to a SOTW Portal Announcement and Info Thread. Also post some possible designs we could use to help glam SOTW up a bit. It's incredibly vague I know, but I'm in a rush. I'll add more info when I got time (hopefully tomorrow)

Also mention spam people who are active in this section.

Edited: Well the purpose of this is to gather what kind of information is necessary for an info thread that would be used for a forum wide announcement which will show up above every single section. Fasted way to advertise but I think we should have info on what signatures are, links to tuts (beg, mod and adv), good examples of different signatures, links to resource packs along with the kinds of prizes on offer. This will be in preperation for the next SOTW. I'm going to create a template this weekend for posting SOTW so that everyone in the GFX Team will be able to do so without any hassles. I also wanna create a template for the announcement threads/pages so that each time we have something different a new announcement can be made. I mean the portal page is pretty dead as is, I think competitions should fill it up more seeing as though there aren't any news concerning VIP hacks. SOTW could be one of many possible announcement.

I think that the header graphics needs to be changed for sure, its to plain and kinda depressing, as for ideas to what you should change it too, it should be an abstract design

Also their should be some form of prize; even if it spam +rep, just having prizes might stir up some new entries or maybe even bump in status, like contributor for a week or two; free hacks?

A global announcement would also get alot of people

I also just thought of something. MPGH is made up of micro-communities, generally separated by games. If there was a way to create a presence in those sections that was consistent, I think it would help. Aside from posting in the sections about SOTW, we could post (or said person could post) about the winner from the community that people know; what they won, what they made, how other people can do the same.
For a long time 4 years ago I caved in the CA section without even knowing what was going on in the rest of the site. I think reaching the people who are oblivious in that way will help.

So basically you want to put tuts and examples of sigs for some people from a different section to come and stand a chance in beating any one of the constant people who enter the sotw like seyeko, kero, mc2 or some shit?

People from other sections wouldn't want all this psds and collections shit. They probably wouldn't even know what they are. If you want traffic you have to give them what they are interested in and i'll bet with you nothing to do with art.

If you exploit that routine, which is reading threads they're interested by the title, you get their attention.
Say Bob and Joe are e-friends and cave CF. Bob goes and enters SOTW, gets first place (this would only be possible after we reform the entry system a bit, but that's a separate issue and doesn't really need to happen), and comes back to the CF section and posts a thread about how he won. Joe and maybe more of Bob's e-friends realize that might be fun and they want to enter as well. Suddenly, next week, you have Bob, Joe, Jim and Bill from CF.

The problem with that theory is, the winners of SOTW and other graphics contests are most likely going to be primarily GFX members.

Which is why entrants might have to be reformed. There's such a vast skill gap between GFX team members and regulars that competition could actually be created if GFX team members didn't enter. I don't think any of us would be heartbroken.
