Hi,

I've heard rumors about Texture mods actually being bannable, but as far as I know texture mods are totally legit right?

And with that, I dont mean textures that shine through walls or so, I mean retextures of for example a sniper, to make it completely purple or so.


I know I can use the search button, but I want some user experience answers, I don't want to get VAC banned on a account with like 26 games.

it's just a texture camo,u can get vac ban if u INJECT the game with INJECTOR,in skins u just replace the files,one files is simple gun,the other file with camo on the gun.and if u get vac ban steam ban the game which was injected,other games are clear,and u can play

I'll just quote the VAC rules,
"Cheating in one of the following Source games will result in a VAC ban for all games in the list:
Counter-Strike: Source
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
Day of Defeat: Source

Cheating in one of the following Gold Source games will result in a VAC ban for all games in the list:
Counter-Strike

The reason you are banned in more than one game is because they are based on the same engine, Source.
All CoD games only affect the one game.

That being said, if you change the player or weapon models in MW3, there's a very low risk of getting banned, if any risk at all. One of the things that might get you banned, and that is also very rare, is if you change the textures of the maps in a way that gives you an advantage. E.g. removing foliage or doing whatever that might mean you could possibly see someone you shouldn't be able to see.

Bottom line being, and to answer your question, there's a risk with every modification, but the risk of getting banned for modding a weapon is pretty much zero.

Unless u take a screenshot yourself, send it to Valve, along with this message : BAN ME PLEASE , they wont ban you, and even then, they prolly wont ban you ... It isnt PB, it doesnt take screenshots of itself ...

VAC have stated themselves that texture modding isn't bannable since it most likely will not give you an advantage over other players.
