Yeh, I did mention the menu issue (and how to deal with it)

However the second screenshot is because you aren't playing in true fullscreen (and therefore not the correct resolution).

screen - the monitor
resolution - pixel dimensions

Well you can, but that is pretty close to the official resolution I think so you won't see much difference.
