It's not bad for a wireless connection.
Do you use the wireless included within your router, or do you have an alternative router for wifi specifically? I have a Netgear router linked to my TWC modem, and it increases the wifi speed giving me around 18-20 down and around 3-4 up with a 15ms ping.

It is pretty standard for an internet connection. Speed for wireless shouldn't be all that different.
