    DAMN IT! I knew I had something to do with this.

    I love this place Atheism
    It's a great source of info for all the religious shenanigans going on. I'm not glad I convinced you but shit happens, I don't like converting people because I remember my life back when I believed, and I was a much happier person, delusional but happy. Sometimes I wish I could believe this nonsense but I can't.

    "The fact that a believer is happier than a skeptic is no more to the point than the fact that a drunken man is happier than a sober one." — George Bernard Shaw

    "If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
    But make allowance for their doubting too,
    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
    Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
    And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

    If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
    If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
    If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
    If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
    Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

    If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
    And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breath a word about your loss;
    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
    And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
    If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
    If all men count with you, but none too much,
    If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
    Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
    And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!"

    --Rudyard Kipling

    This poem helped me more then any 3,000 year old scripture.

    The idea that there IS a god is ignorant.

    If we all came down with cancer and prayed to your 'god' only those who survived would claim "JEBUS HALPED MAH!!!" Those who died would say nothing.

    If we all came down with cancer and prayed to a statue, the same would apply.

    Reason: There is no God, all your amazing stories about faith can all be explained logically, not because some intangible deity saved you. It's because you give credit to said magical deity that people believe this shit will help them.

    i just wanted to say that atheism is actually illegal in kentucky. so is oral.oral is considered sodomy there, and is illegal. not sure which is more shocking.

    Indeed, MPGH has a good diversity of beliefs. I hope this conversation doesn't get to out of hand. Any who, nice opening Mr.Thread Starter. It appears nonbelievers talk more then believers do. I personally consider Athiesm and common Christianity equally illogical, considering they both insist you selectively deny facts you don't want to admit.

    I believe every one has their own reasons and selectively chosen facts to support their beliefs. It's hipocritcal for anyone to attack any belief. TedNugent, i'm going to use your emo feelings on the matter for as example. I'm sure you've been in theological and scientific classes for almost 50 years if you can confidently call 4/5ths of the world ignorant.
