Slowly take a deep breath, what kind of pain do you feel, how log does it take to feel the pain, and how much air can you fill you diaphragm with before it hurts too much to keep breathing?

It's not the cartilage, sounds to me like a bruising and a hairline fracture. Nothing too serious but it would still be beneficial to get an X-Ray of the area in question

Ice it for twenty minutes, off for 30. Do that for the next two days and see how you feel. If it is still bothering you (sharp pain not a dull throb) when you move or take deep breaths then see a physician. Feel better man nigga

If you're not blooding or having problems to breath (Apart from the pain) then you should wait a day or two. Most likely you're still hurt.
If your rib was broken, you will be dieng on pain. (Not only after breathing, but when you move.)
Improve and contribute to the LoL section, anything you do could save it.
