I would like to post this being that I have come from a child abused family when growing up.
I got hit with belts, switches, hot wheels tracks, electric cords, punch in the face, whiskey bottles thrown at my feet, cans thrown at my face and hit my nose, and rubber hoses. If you are talking about being beat like that then I say an emphatically "HELL NO". No one deserves to go through that at all.

That being said.....The only time I spank is if my child has ever physically hurt an animal or person with reckless abandonment of reasoning. I only spank with my hand. I do that to let me know how it also feels so I don't go over board or ever forget how it feels. To go beyond that is not good and opens up the parent into taking too many frustrations of anger during the day on a child.

After my discipline I alwasy talk to my children and make sure we have an understanding that as their parent I am responsible for them as well as they are for their own actions. I like to think that it teaches them Sir Issac Newton's therory....For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction...Pro or Con.

my older cousin would chase his little brother around with a meat cleaver every time he did something VERY stupid, but he would never actually hit him with he, he uses a shoe to beat him, and them locks him in the bathroom telling him to sleep on the floor. He learns but now hes just a major pussy.
