Along with your OT, I noticed the same thing. The first time I noticed that I honestly enjoyed it as it left it as a "the hero isn't always going to win every fight" (just like DBZ when Goku is killed the first time), though they are DEFINITELY mimicking DBZ with that. The villain always leaves (almost victorious), just like how every good guy V bad guy battle in DBZ ALWAYS ends with at least ONE main character dying, but they can be brought back and always are (or almost in some cases). It's a complete mimic of DBZ's style just with a different plot, setting, and they twisted off a few ends.
Bleaches first 10 manga's were my favorite. They were just so damn interesting. Now they're....generic. It's like shonen jump caused them to sell out 10 mangas in.
