you have your project set to multibyte and have all the includes set?
if so it sounds like you set the lib files wrong
make sur eyou use the x86 folder

Don't include the lib folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft DirectX SDK (June 2010)\Lib\x64" use the x86 only.
