hex-editing the client version

Since nobody reads it in the main section, I'll ask it here.
I'm 100% sure the string of the client version is known by some people on here.
I've got my good old modded 4.0 client, and I'd like to change the version in order to match it with the current version without having to wait for some kind of mods.
Is there anyone who has informations about editing the right offsets on the client in order to change the game version of it?
