    Technical Difficulties

Now that i got you to view this thread:
What I need help on is installing a 12v external fan to my laptop, or just getting power to it

it's got a positive and negative wire to power it, and it works great.

Mom suggested DC to AC inverter, and i'm thinking that if i can just get a USB plug i ca wire it into the pins 1 and 4 and it will power itself.
    Ideas?

I would just hook up two 6v batteries to it.
    But that's just me

I suppose you could tap into the USB voltage source, but I'm not sure how much current you can draw from it before your mobo resets... You should, however, read the specs of the fan (max power, current, etc...) and use a volt-meter to read the voltage (making sure that it is within the range specified by the manufacturer. If it is from the USB it is probably 5 volts.) I am not sure if you have to worry about shit like inductance with a DC Fan (most DC motors would require that you do) and if it would have a serious effect on the sensitive motherboard signals (or the device connected to the USB port.)

Also, if it draws a lot of current, consider placing a resistor or something, it could have some impact on your battery life.

There are two types of tragedies in life. One is not getting what you want, the other is getting it.

If you wake up at a different time in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?

A Universal AC Adapter would work great, you can set the voltage from 1.5v - 12v

Thanks everyone, i don't think my USB would supply enough power ( i touched the wire to the pins in my USB port and my USB power stopped )
So i'll probably do what @Resaun said.
