The GTX 680 IS faster, but you may want to choose the Radeon over it because of the $280 price difference. They both will/should be able to play anything you want with high settings (and a reasonable Res like 1920x1020).
I went i5 because that CPU can be over-clocked, is cheaper and games really don't utilize Hyper-Threading all that much; Quad-Core is also plenty. This is a gaming PC, if you were looking for a computer that can video edit, 3D render and etc, go get an i7 Six Core CPU.
If you REALLY need/want an i7, I'd recommend:
Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor, it's $100 price difference.
