Work or what ?
Well the game is a bit of a memory hog. To negate the effects of low RAM (4GB or lower) try to set your Virtual Memory to a higher rate.
Follow this little guide, although it might look like a wall of text, there isn't much to do, good luck.
So first thing, yes even if you have a lot of RAM, windows going to pretty much use lot's of Virtual Memory, looki here, i have 8GB of RAM and still windows use 3GB of Virtual Memory:

Now when i fire up AVA, my Virtual Memory usage jumps to 5GB:

Without getting to much tech on you, there is a reason why "Virtual Memory" also called "Page File" is still persistent, go out there and find out why if you are so interested.
There is no real formula to find out how much "Virtual Memory" you need, but after some time with my current system setup, i found out that my "Virtual Memory" never exceeded 6GB.
So without any further yadda yadda let's begin, our goal is to set our System "Virtual Memory" to 8GB:
[For Windows Vista/7/8]
1. Open Control Panel, change "View By" to "Small icons" or "Large icons", and then press on "System":

2. Press on "Advanced System Settings":

3. A new window will pop up, make sure you are on the "Advance" Tab, and then press on "Settings" under "Performance" section:

4. Another window will pop up, again make sure you are on the "Advance" Tab, and then press on "Change...":

5. Make sure "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" is unticked, and if not then untick it.
Choose your Operating System drive, usually C.
Press on "Custom Size".
Set "Initial Size" to 8000, and also set "Maximum Size" to 8000.
Press on "Set".
Press on "OK"
Reset your PC. Enjoy!
