In vb.net "String.Reverse()" is 1 line of code -- but you must understand what is a string, what is an immutable object etc etc. It's not just a matter of knowing .Reverse(), but the details behind it. Same with the calculator hex numbers thing.

easy peasy, even if you write your own functions instead of using premade .NET abilities.

Personally took a few months before it all started clicking for me. It's not complicated, but you have to learn the material. Sometimes even to do basic things (like setting a label's Text :|) can require a lot of background knowledge (what is a 'string') to understand *all the details* involved.

It's a fundamental (read: required) skill if that's what you mean by easy

Maybe it just seems easy to me because I have a background of C, C++ and assembly, but that stuff still seems really beginner =\

Stuff like atoi, iota, etc is pretty simple. All you need is some math skills and an ASCII table for reference and you can do it

lol yes, because you've already studied it. It is easy once you've learned it Learing is different for each person. Reading a book does wonders.

Most people have never heard of 'atoi' or 'iota', and won't care until it affects them (and they wont even know why). : (
