Hey guys.
When I installed Battlefield 2 for the first time, there was a STRUGGLE getting it to the latest version!
So I decided to write a tutorial upon my problem to help other users out there installing this still classic and awesome game .
Ok here we go .
Step 1: Install the game.
Step 2: Run the game than once its at the menu just exit.
Step 3: Click on your windows 7 start button and search "regedit"
Step 4: Click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Step 5: Click on Edit than Search.
Step 6: Enter in "Battlefield 2" Exactly.
Step 7: You should land on your "Battlefield 2" folder and in there should be a file called "InstallDir" , if it's not there, press ALT and search for the next folder.
Step 8: Once you have found your "InstallDir" file, right click on the white space below it and make a new "String Value" and name it "Version"
Step 9: Right click on your new Version file and click modify.
Step 10: In the field box of "Value Data" put in "1.0.2442.0" than hit OK.
Step 11: Download "Battlefield 2 Patch 1.41" than run it as administrator and let it do its thing.
Step 12: After its' finished patching, Download "Battlefield 2 Patch 1.50" than run it as administrator and let it do its' thing.
Step 13: After all the patching has finished, your Battlefield 2 will start up and your now Up-To-Date
Questions you might ask:
Why do I need to do this after I install Battlefield 2?Can't I just install 1.50 from the fresh install?
Answer:
No you cannot, it will say you have the most up to date version which is NOT true.
Follow these steps and you will be up to date and out of the way with errors.
I think this deserves a stick @Woods since many users have this problem after installing a fresh install of Battlefield 2.
Thanks and good luck .
