How to make weapon skins?

I would like to know how to make weapon skins.

I have some time on my hands and i would like to learn how to make weapon skins.
Basically i want to do is make a FAL-Cannon skin for the PARA. If theres a way i can replace the normal black para skin with the replica of the fal cannon i would like to learn how. Well.. i know its possible as AVADead released one before, but since its patched, i would like to make a new one.
If anybody has some tips on where to get started it would be appreciated.

First it wasn't AvaDead but SteelSkinz. Next it is wrong section (it belongs to help section @Riddick).

And to finish, if you aren't very good in math and informatics (i mean.. VERY good) you won't be able to do so. AND it's very long to learn..
