Well I suppose it's possible, if the earth's magnetic field became off-set completely.

Actually, back in the mid 1800s, there were massive solar storms (which if happened today would totally fry electronics globally and in orbit), causing auroras to happen in Cuba, so bright you could actually read outside.

Yea, I'm just saying that if the magnetic field became offset completely, for example if it pointed sideways off the earth then aurorae at other latitudes would be more common because the magnetic field position would have changed.
