A C4D is an abstract 3d render used to help create bg's and add effects. Go to any of the tutorial sites and they have resources and tuts on how to use them. Here's a link to one I like:

I don't understand..You need Photoshop or PSP or GIMP at the least, but the techniques in the tutorials will work no matter what program you use. I just happened to point you towards Photoshop tut's. If you dont have Photoshop, I advise firing up the torrent client.

If you want to make C4D's youself, then you need Cinema 4D. If not use deviant art, and planetrenders to get them.

Making C4Ds is pretty tough. Just search PR for packs. I can't think of many C4D tuts that really explain how to use them. :/
