If someone downright pissed me off in public, i would reverse thier words and get them pissed off at me, if they should choose to swing on me then. that would be the point to where i would proceed to beat their ass, and then i would cry self defense.

beat him a couple of times then let em run off...then the person brings people and you humiliate that person, with your friends and that fool's people watching. and he brings 'people' that doesnt mean they came as a friend. who knows, he may not have friends. well that is if the person i beat returns.
