i know dogs have tonal recognition and can understand orders and commonly used words and short phrases. that's not what i mean.

I mean like... asking your dog a complex question in a serious manner. Such as; "How's the weather today?". Obviously the dog could never understand what you just said since the dog can't understand language and definitely not English, and even if it did the dog still wouldn't be able to answer. Therefore asking your dog a question in a serious manner either means you have nobody else to talk to and you simply wish to have a conversation, or you're a moron. I think the ladder is more appropriate.

The real morons are the people who sit down with food and yell and kick at the dog the entire time. I just ignore mine and say "go" firmly (but not yelling) and she will go lay down. I didn't even do any training and both my dogs are like this.

What's worse are people that do this with their children. Setting rules and sticking to them go a lot further than physical/verbal abuse.
