You're going to want to try to find a CPU/Motherboard combo deal on Newegg or Tigerdirect to fit something decent in such a small budget.

Then I would suggest looking at the FX-8350. I have it right now and it's OC'd at a stable 3.8, I've gotten it to 4.4 but it lost stability and BSOD'd. Also, make sure your motherboard is using the 990FX chipset, I suggest the GA-990FX-UD7 by Gigabyte, or the Sabertooth 990FX.

Im running a bulldozer with a gtx560ti. My friend has a intel i5 with a gtx560ti as well. He out performs me with about a 20 -30 fps difference.

Lets put it in a quick summary!

Core i5 series: Great for gaming, does not perform as well as i7 for editing, adobe etc.
Core i7 series: Great for gaming, is great for editing software because of hyper threading (makes 4 virtual cores) and editing programs love cores.

So in quick recap, the i5 doesn't have hyper threading like the i7, but in terms of gaming they are the same.
In the future though games will use hyper threading.

AMD series CPU's are for budget builds like the 5800K.

A10-5800k is an APU used for something like an all-in-one. The FX-8350 & FX-8320 are great octo-core processors that by some benchmarks are on par with the 3570 & 3770k.
