I really can't say that you will run exactly X amount stable. It's all a test and see thing. Around 3 If your CPU can handle the VM's =)

There are dangers, Usually the chin nuts and kuhneutson valve are first thing's to go. If you run to many cows on your computer you may fry out the flux capacitor =(

CPU - Lag/Black screen's.
RAM - Amount of cows.
GFX - FPS lag
SSD - Greatly reduces wait and load times.
M.B - bottleneck between CPU and RAM.

okay, 2 GB external graphics card, 8 GB Ram, i7 Intel Core (2.40 GHZ), 1 TB disk space, and 15.6' inch.
How many cows exactly could I run?
