actually, thats not true, text can be placed in the anywhere as long as it looks good. For artist text always goes in the corner so..........

Text should be placed in a creative way near the focal, so it doesn't serve as a distraction point in the signature.
As for the sig, the idea you have was nice. You should have just blurred the middle of the background and sharpened the rest up for some really nice depth and perspective. The text is meh. There just isn't enough detail in my opinion, it gets boring too look at after a few seconds.
