I used to live in an area of Dorchester where there were lots of homeless people.
I used to put extra granola bars or trail mix in my backpack If I was in that area for a long time.
Never gave them money because a lot of them have alcohol or substance abuse problems, and I wasn't going to contribute to that.

I walked through Dorchester once...thought I was gonna get mugged. Place looks really run down imo. I usually see homeless people in Chinatown and Kenmore.
