Valve are not a company to rush games, and will usually only release a project if they truly believe it is the greatest they could have achieved. Half-Life 3 would have massive shoes to fill considering the critical and commercial success of HL,HL2, and all the episodes. If they released anything less than a virtually perfect game, the entire consumer video game market would be polarized. Which could cause more harm than it's worth
