Payday 2: trying to mod and lost your save?

Welcome one and all, after trying to use the Lua hook and loosing my save a couple of times, and the backup not working, i was almost about to give up, when i though about somthing rather simple that would work

Now before i go on, you must have pre backed up your save beforehand... alas if you have not done this, then you are out of luck as there is no way to get it back.

so here's what you have to do.

Firstly start up your game, if you get the error that says "does not match, creating new data" or somthing similar to this, make sure you click though the dialog, and decline the option to do the safehouse.

now you must close steam, navigate to your Payday 2 save file which is located in your appdata folder
C:\Users\xxxxxxxxx\AppData\Local\PAYDAY 2\saves

*but you should already know this if you have backed up your save prior

drop your save file in there, while steam is closed.

Start steam, and run payday 2

it will say "your backup is higher than your current game" then choose yes

the save you dropped in now will be the one that your game loads, but make sure you close it though the exit game atleast once.


What i have learned is that you should definantly back up your save file, prior to any attempt at hacking with lua, or CE, incase you screw it up
