how do i get record with fraps

Whenever fraps is working for me it has the yellow FPS number s but if it doesnt work for me it doesnt appear. yellow or red. How do i fix this. Like if i try to record it dosent record the icon at the bottom right just turns red for a few seconds and it goes bak to yellow

Just hit F10 and the numbers will be red then hit it again and it will turn yellow. When it's red it's recording.
