Tobacco is a plant...but classified as a drug....Coca is a plant as well and they make cocaine from that.

A drug, by definition is any substance that induces a physical or mental (Not necessarily conscious mental change) change that differs from regular homeostasis. That is the definition of a drug. Therefore alot of things are drugs, this INCLUDES marijuana.

By your logic, and definition, coffee is also a drug. So is sugar, because of the "sugar rush" effect it has on people/children.
We all know its an intoxicant, but why people call it a "drug" when it hasnt been produced/altered in any way because its an all natural thing is beyond me

As for uncured tobacco, theres no laws or regulations against it. Anyone can grow tobacco in their backyards. Do you know why? Because the government makes billions a year selling the stuff. Anyone can grow Cactus, peyote, in their backyards as well. Its still a drug, and its still natural, but since there isn't an underground market for it why should they bother
