Pff , if you try to talk with him , help him with some stuff he might come to see you again and again and become your friend. BUT Artix is pretty busy so i believe nobody has chance to be his friend.

This is during the beta, It obviously doesn't work anymore, they patched it right after the beta. I believe it was just simply renaming your self to a moderator status and the server would update you as moderator/admin in green letters.
