Hooks In The Sand

Cast a line in to the deep,
High above the angels weep,
Peering idly, earthen ledge,
Gazing from the Ocean’s edge.
Draw the black twine back to land,
Hook drags lightly through the sand.
Empty metal, torn through lip,
Blood drips softly, sharpened tip.
On the line you’ve used no bait,
And yet your mind’s still filled with hate.
Curse those evil, wicked fish,
Dare they not be what you wish.
Broken dreams that you devised,
Wandering sheep; your own demise.
Believing what’s just televised,
Entire life absorbing lies.
A wretched beast, your own creation,
And yet the will…to scream damnation.
For it wasn’t the hook, for it wasn’t the lake,
This was your own breed, your own fatal mistake.
You glamorize the evil, you idolize its face,
When only just tomorrow, new hate’ll take its place.
