Yes, it has to be a laptop. I'm in DEP with the air force, and I can't drag a desktop rig around with me after I finish basic training.
Intel i7 processor [preferably the 4700HQ (Quad core w/ hyperthreading)]
AT LEAST 8gb ram; preferable 12+
Solid state drive or 7200RPM HDD
17-17.9 inch screen
DEDICATED NVIDIA GeForce 765, 770, 780 with 2 or 3 gb of ram.
Backlit keyboard
My budget can not exceed $1800, preferably less than $1600.
I was originally looking at the ASUS G750JW and G750JX but they apparently have some problems with their keyboards and screens. I've hit a brick wall in selecting an alternative. MSI has a lot that would fit these specifications, but they have so damn many and I can only compare 3 at a time on their website. Need some suggestions.

You were seeking strength, justice, splendour.
You were seeking love.
Here is the pit, here is your pit.
Its name is Silence..
Newegg.com - MSI GE Series GE70 2OE-071US Intel Core i7 4700MQ(2.40GHz) 12GB Memory 1TB HDD 17.3" Notebook Windows 7 Home Premium
One of them, then replace the HDD with an SSD.
@7200 RPM I might just leave the default hard drive in...
I might be able to get the ASUS g750 JX (I was looking mostly at the JW ) at cost. If I can't, or the at-cost is still ~1600+ I'll probably do this. Thanks.
(The JX seems to only have one of the problems that the JW does, and it's solved by removing a piece of bloatware.)

Agreed,Alienware is really overpriced + most of their products are not good.
If you want a decent gaming laptop,I think that building one yourself would be a good idea, since it would probably cost you less money. But anyhow that's just my opinion
“Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind."
I would prefer a Alienware x14. From there, start upgrading all the things you want. It starts at only $999
