Possibly revising requirements on posting Private servers

5$?? To host a server on a vps the vps needs to be windows based (windows based vps = 2x to 2.5x more expensive) and anything below 2gb will lag/crash nonstop (if you have more than ~5 ppl on at the same time). So a vps is more like 30$ for the bare minimum 2gb, and ~90$ for the recommended 8gb.

Actually most vps's are linux, which is great because u can use putty to connect to it and do everything on there.

Wayyyyy better than just pinging. I'd just code something into the server to provide information about players, realms, etc.

Why not read from /char/list or the user could input their SQL creds into the server for it?

@Royce there should definitely be a rule to have a unique feature to the server other than items, and there should be at least 1 dev. Let's point out some names:

Noob's Server - v6 (because you upgraded VPS?) VPS != +1 version @ZerkyPvP 's Server - Announced with no devs, most likey to die out in 1 day due to no unique features

Honestly, more behaviors don't count as much as unique features if there is no dungeon or spawner to go with it, however if you can manages a server I'm sure one can make a simple entity that listens to a player's request and spawns it.

(Ex. Spawn Oryx the Mad God 2)

Also, some servers act like they have lots of features (Ex. DemonBlade Networks) <---- (networks wat there is only 1 server)
However all the features are standard and are not unique.

I would code it myself and release the code to integrate on the server, or more probably an already (natively) compiled DLL to use. Rules would make it compulsory to provide a sort of server checking feature from the thread, be my tool or another.

Definately need to agree with this. The way people advertise their server makes it seem like it's more significant to any other. Sure, I can use all sorts or big text or bold text too. Which does absolutely nothing. I'm voting on any Pserver that replicates another server to be locked down. It's simply dumb for others to host a server that is an exact copy of someone elses work only to have admin powers and make money.
