This convention's been going on since '11 or '10. You're a bit late.
aaand, it's a pretty amazing game. How many sales did it get the first year or two? I mean, it was HUGE how many sales it made and how good of a game people thought it was. I used it play it endlessly, but it did get boring after 2 years of just MC and nothing else. I definitely have to play on some kind of objective server though or else I'll be bored immediately. (objective ie: Prison, drug, etc)

You're as creative as the game lets you be, which isn't very much compared to something like Garry's Mod.
Like honestly, here's what you can do in Minecraft:
-Build (houses and farms)
-Explore (places that constantly look alike)
-Fight (enemies with no AI)
Not much else.

EDIT: I'm not gonna be like "LOL LOOK AT THAT ****** WHO LIKES MINECRAFT LOL XDDD" but I'll make fun of it as much as I want.
I bought it during Alpha and have been playing it since inf dev, back when it had major potential. He completely ruined the project.
