    AMD Radeon R9 270

AMD Radeon R9 270 Review: Replacing The Radeon HD 7800s - The Radeon R9 270: New, Or Renewed?

Now, as you all know, I'm no expert at this shit. But I'm wondering if I should go with the R9 270/R9 270X or the old Radeon HS 7850/60/70? I'm most likely going to buy the R9 270, seeing as it's in the same price neighborhood, but if I upgrade to this, what would I need to change from this build:
    https://pc partpicker.com/p/21DKJ to stay up-to-date?

This is @Aborted 's secondary build for anyone wondering.

I'd definitely go with this 290x, also you might want to change out your motherboard to this motherboard because the one you have at present doesn't have a heatsink for its mosfets. Other than that it looks alright.

Transistor cooling isn't in any way required on a build of this budget, and even at most higher end builds. You're only going to need the extra cooling if you're running extreme overclocks on much higher-end CPU's. Even at that you'd most likely have a liquid cooling system in place, and all that would be needed would be a simple case fan pointed at them.

yea i might've over done it a little bit. however, that motherboard will definitely do him well for future upgrades and SLI if he ever wants.

Indeed. If he's planning on doing some upgrading in the near future, a higher-end board will always be the better option. This is one of his first builds, so it being future-proof doesn't seem all that important. For lower budgets, I always suggest for people to use their money strictly on main components, and then expand later.
