check the second link it has other emulators i used the first one thought worked for me
try NO$GBA
it works however it is old but does not require bios and stuff

That's how pokemon is , once you start playing you keep playing even though you have no interest or at least that's how it is for me.

This would only be able to be done via an emulator, but you would be missing out on all the hardware specific things that half the game wouldn't even be there.

Just go get a 2DS if price is an issue, it plays everything (especially Pokemon) perfectly fine and costs 40 bucks (so Pokemon for free basically). Or shovel out the extra money for the 3DS, it's a great console and is definitely worth the buy.
