Talking Gaming PC Build for under £650

    Sup everybody!

I'm hoping to build a computer after Christmas sometime to replace my laptop which died about a month ago. This is the first time I've built a PC and I'm on a budget of £650.

I'd really appreciate it if you guys could just check whether the parts are okay or whether I could replace some things for different parts which may work better.

    • Fractal Design Define Mini Series Micro ATX Case - Black Pearl
    • Corsair 600W Builder Series CX 80+ Bronze ATX Power Supply
    • Asus P8H77-M LE Motherboard
    • Intel Core i5 3570K Quad Core IvyBridge Processor Retail with Heat Sink Fan
    • Western Digital Caviar 1TB Green SATA III
    • XFX AMD Radeon HD 7870 Double Dissipation Edition Graphics Card - 2GB
    • Corsair Memory Vengeance Blue Low Profile 8GB DDR3 1866MHz
    • Samsung 24x SATA DVD Writer – Black

Thanks for your help and suggestions in advance.

Just 20$ more and get a ASUS Radeon R9 270X card (Clock: 1120 Mhz, Shader/Dx versions are better)

When I was thinking about the parts for this build I also came across this AMD card too. I believe there are two versions made by ASUS; the standard one and the overclocked one.

Which would you recommend? If I choose an overclocked card, would I need to add additional fans or other cooling methods?

Thanks again for all your help and advice people!

The one here: pc partpicker.co m/p/29Dne
It gets overclocked by 70mhz only and its cooler fan is enough.

    Looks awesome!

I think I can stretch to a few extra pounds!

Thanks man. I think I'll take your advice and go with the ASUS Radeon R9 270X graphics card.

So you think I should switch to a Sandy processor? Or should I just add some extra fans?

I doubt I'll be overclocking the processor that much if at all.

Are there any other major differences between Ivy, Sandy and Haswell processors?

I've heard things about it being very inconsistent from various places (and other things that I can't remember) - I can't pinpoint it for you though as I'm not too interested by the card.

Right okay I'll keep that in mind thanks.

With the CPU, I've looked at a few others. In particular, the AMD FX-8 9370 Black Edition 8 Core Processor, Intel Sandybridge i5-2500K Unlocked Core i5 Quad-Core Processor.

Any advice on which one would best suit my build? Or should I just add more fans?

    Thanks again!
