Mhm, works great.
I would probably put an FPS cap on, under the visual settings change it so the max FPS you have is about 100. Your eye doesn't see over 30 FPS, but about 60 FPS is perfect. Your computer might be using more resources when it's loading 300-500 FPS, the same exact resources that could've been helping you during the 15-30 fps. If that doesn't work, try a 50 FPS cap.
You could try stuff like toggling Advanced OpenGL, turning down the render distance a single chunk, or just try restarting your computer.
