Of course death frightens people, but it's an absolute, you and I will die. Some like to think there's an after-life, and if that comforts them, that's fine. But ultimately we don't know, death is most likely the end, of existence, consciousness, being.

How do we not know that when u die ur brainwaves don't just bounce off the atmosphere until they r reborn but u forget everything because u brain keeps most of the infromation.

K... I think death is the end of counciousness... And it's not just HUMAN instinct, all (I think) living creatures have survival instinct.

of course. every animal has its own distinct survival instinct. for instance birds fly north and most animals like dogs appear to have like a sixth sense where they are able to sense danger. and i agree i believe its the end of all consciousness. but i make myself feel better by saying this. our goal in life is to survive and reproduce as one and keep the cycle of humans going as i am just a drop of water in an endless sea. and when i die i know im still out there some where in my son or daughter if i have one and i helped the race move along and thats what counts. and its definitely better than eternal torture in hell or eternal boredom in heaven

simple reason i have not accomplished anything, i ahve not made a difference in the world or any ones life. that means that my life if i were to die this moment was a waste.
i wasted the most precious gift of all.
so i guess no im not scared of dying, im scared of dying in vein
