No one can beat madara, the third.....(wait wasn't the third hokage killed int he obito fight?).....is vastly inferior to the 1/2, so I see no real threat there.

Naruto and Sasuke are on the "brink of death" so I don't see them making a reasonable comeback unless they turn supersaiyan or something.

I'm too tired to remember now, but there was some reason that he survived that. There was a long discussion on /r/Naruto where someone made the same point you did and someone else explained how it happened.

There would have been no point in him being revived if he died at that point. All the other Kage would have already done SO much more than him by that point. He gets revived to eat black balls to the face and die? What was the point then, he may as well have not been revived.

I agree that he probably should have stayed dead, but once he was revived, him dying like that would have been dumb.

The Edo Tensei as a whole was also really good for the show, it allowed Kishi to flesh the lore out a lot more. But it doesn't matter what he does at this point, you're still going to hate the show, so why does it matter?

The decline in popularity, the ridiculous amounts of fans just dropping it(ala bleach fullbring), and most of the lore amounting to huge, gigantic plotholes?(Fruit of evil, none of the kages except leaf influencing anything outside of genetic heritage, some legends getting defeated by practical nobodies *cough* hanzo *cough*, and well anything involving the other ninja tribes or the sage of six paths.)
