So tomorrow I have to write an essay on this prompt:
"We form our identities through understanding and learning from our experiences"

What I have to do:
Create an expository piece that allows you to address the prompt and draw on ideas from your reading of Growing Up Asian In Australia, while taking into account the audience, purpose and context identity and belonging.


And of course, I leave it to the last minute to study...
Any ideas of what I could write? or relate it too?
I have a small idea of what to write for the body paragraphs (Past experiences and how they effect your identity) < will also include anecdotes and quotes from a book called Growing up Asian in Australia.

Body paragraph 1 - I will talk about an individual experience.
How does understanding our personal experiences contribute to our identity? Personal experiences could include but are not limited to: Relationships - marriage/divorce/boyfriend/girlfriend or Individual experiences - achievements/awards/set backs/ways of thinking etc...

Body Paragraph 2 - Group experiences
Sometimes our group identity is very different from our indivdual identity in that we select and choose what is appropriate to the situation and group norms just as much as we use our individual identity. Therfore we could consider what possible group experiences might we learn from?
Some typs of groups - Teenager/internet/criminal/music/work/ethnic/family/religious etc...

Body Paragraph 3 - Societal experiences
Society is the overall umbrella that individual and group experiences fall under. society has expectations of us, in a sense this could be thought of as a social contract, in that we have rights of responsibility and participation to fulfil to often be considered a memeber of the community. society is a much larger group that has its own set of norms, but it has many influences, and some of these might be ones we could consider in shaping our identity.

u doing the hsc this year?? xD just make a really strong thesis and introduction then u should be fine remember to use STEEL paragraphs... and keep linking back to ur idea....

You have a great outline just make sure to have a strong thesis.

Don't forget to refer back to your thesis at the beginning and end of every body paragraph.

Also include a "hook" at the beginning of your essay.

PS: You can always make up stories and claim that they happened when writing essays, *wink*.
