So I want to get started on Anime

There are so many. I say start with small ones. I suggest Dangan Ronpa.
If you like it, go to my anime list dot com, search danganronpa, and see suggestions of similar animes. And you'll have a giant list of animes in no time.

First, you need to watch non-mainstream anime before mainstream

Pff watch something mainstream like Death Note and Code Geass. Still love them both.. However my first anime (years ago) was GTO (Great Teacher Onizuka)
Also are good, Gurren Lagann and Super Robot Taisen .. It really all depends on what your into.

Yeah, it has pink blood but that's it.
About the game, I kinda played a bit of 1st game, because it was pretty much the same story, no divergences.
But about the second game, I only read in the web that there was no english patch or any translation from japanese.

Its the difference.

Much like how Persona 4 was a mediocre anime but the game was great, Dangan Ronpa is only a little bit worse in that the more important or character building parts aren't done well in the anime. As well as the character descriptions.
