The problem with long shows is that they start using more and more filler while ignoring actual plot to get more episodes. If a show can maintain a good story plot for over 400 episodes and not get side-tracked i would watch it any day. It's really close to impossible though.

For one season.

There are several anime with 25+ episodes that are really good.

Monogatari series(imo the best anime currently made) and jojo's (shonen action + FoTNS violence), both run 30+ episodes.
