What's the deal with WoW?

the king of the mmorpg games as it was called..no idea if its still now. it offers you quite a variety of both contents of pvp and pve. you want only pvp? farm for gear then battleground or arena with cool maps and tasks win and get points to buy pvp gear. you want pve? lots of dungeons,lots of quests (not to mention the time it will get you to go 90) lots of raids ( kill lich king, deathwing etc etc) new expansions with races. Did i mention how big it is? 2 worlds both huge to explore,you can do its achivements and get great rewards you can craft..basically it has everything you will ever want. that was their plan although its a money eater its still worth it. 10 different races (alliance,horde)
lots of playable classesriest warrior paladin hunter rogue monk mage warlock shaman druid each class offers unique skills and talents with extra skills

Been around for along time, so many people, like myself, have grown attached to it, it has great lore, loads of stuff to do ect
Played loads of mmos and never found one that sucked me in like WoW
One thing i dislike with WoW nowa days is that it is very casual, not that being casual is a bad thing, but it's taken away a lot of challenges that used to be in the game such as leveling up or obtaining gold.

because swtor ripped some WoW abilities, basically copy pasted them thus making the game "better"

Thanks for the in depth answer, so basically it's like every other MMORPG but gets hype because it was the first? I guess since it makes so much the devs could probably afford to make better content for it though, so it makes more sense why everyone loves it so much. Maybe I'll have to look into it more now.
