I'll agree with original macross being on par with the original Gundam. Zeta and Unicorn though? Nah.

Both Gundam and Macross has it's fair share of shit sequels, but I still believe that Gundam is better.

Gundam has a loooooot of mediocre sequels, Macross has been pretty solid throughout.


Unicorn, mobile, and Zeta being the top gundams, while there are a ton of mediocre or just bad(SD) ones in between.

Macross 7, Dynamite and the movies for it were bad. Most of the newer Gundam titles aren't really Gundam. The only real Gundam titles are the one Tomino directs, everything else is just shit Sunrise puts out to rake in the money. Tomino himself said the same thing.

Sadly I agree. They have the same general concepts like the divas, and such, but it's so different. Stuff like Macross Frontier is a no-go for me.

That's the problem with gundam. Too widespread now. They tried to capitalize too much from there early success.

I prefer Patlabor or Evangelion over both, but as far as the recent stuff goes, i'm enjoying macross a lot more. With the exception of Unicorn, the last 10 years haven't been too kind for gundam.
