    What was your first computer?

Mine was a Toshiba Satellite Laptop running Windows 95! I was like 6 at the time.

Dad gave it to me when he got a new one and played Sim City 2000 and Gizmos and Gadgets on it all the time.

You young'ns have never experienced MS DOS in its true glory.
You were seeking strength, justice, splendour.
    You were seeking love.

I didn't have the luxury of a computer until later in my life anyways.

    I experienced MS-DOS too m8
I used ms-dos 6.22 to play old games back then.

I write software that runs for DOS too. Along with software that doesn't require an OS, loads straight from a floppy and only uses BIOS functionality

It's torture half the time. Debugging a boot loader = impossible.

Yeah I guess. But if this shit isn't patented, start selling OS-less floppy games. :P

    makes no sense

Nobody has a diskette drive anymore
BIOS is really inefficient and provides bare functionality. I only make simple diagnostic tools for educational purpose, or work on my hobby OS

Pretty much every Microsoft OS for PC from 1986 until 2000 (excluding Windows 2000) has some version of DOS as its backbone. So anybody who has used 95/98 has used DOS.

in addition to this, DOS is more than a backbone, it's completely DOS based

Overwriting the DOS interrupt (0x21) handler in windows 9x will render the system unusable
